Thank you again to The Luxury Spot for cluing me in on something cool (and budget friendly)!
Kim Kardashian has created a montly show membership society--slightly similar to Bag, Borrow, or Steal and my beloved BeautyFix--except you don't give back the shoes (like BB&B). They are hand picked for you by a team of fashion experts and are yours to keep. For just $39 a month (includes shipping). Here's how it works:
Take our Fashion Survey: It only takes a few minutes for us to get to know your style.
Our stylists pick 5 shoes for you: Based on your survey results, our fashion experts provide you with a choice of 5 fashionable shoes each month, from which you choose one. If you do not like your choices, you can select "Skip this Month" and you won't be charged for that month.
Choose the pair you want: We provide free shipping*. If you are unsatisfied with your shoes, simply return them to us using the pre-printed return shipping label provided with your order.
I was curious about what kind of shoe brands were being sent out since $39 a month really is inexpensive for shoes. I was surprised to learn that their main designer is Michael Antonio (one of my absoloute fave "on the cheap" shoe designers).
I really love the idea of this membership and am thinking about joining--has anyone else joined? What are your thoughts on this?
By now you've probably seen the new Dove commercials advertising their NutriumMoisture body washes. They've targeted regular body washes as being major culprit's in causing dry skin damage, using moisturizers that only sit on the top of the skin. So what's the solution to this? Dove's new line of body washes of course! They contain NutriumMoisture--a breakthrough formula of soybean oil and natural lipids that nourish deep down into your skin. This new collection is available in Deep Moisture, Sensitive Skin and Gentle Exfoliating.
I like all three-both lather up wonderfully, have a fresh scent, and I honestly don't feel the need to slather on moisturizer the second I hop out of the shower. The Gentle Exfoliating has become my instant favorite though, since it cuts out the need to use my heavy-duty body scrub quite so often. And, as is the case with all Dove products, they won't break the bank. :)
I received this in product in the last Beautyfix kit, but couldn't really put it to the test until I moved to my new home in (the much hotter climate of) South Carolina. By mid-day, I felt like my powder foundation/bronzer/blush had melted right off my face.
Skindinavia's Makeup Finishing Spray boasts providing an all day makeup hold, keeping it from melting, smudging and losing color. It's been touted not only by Beautyfix, but magazines like Allure and Vogue as well.
My general consensus?
Although the label says it holds foundation, eye shadow, blush and concealer, I still found that my eye shadow creased and wore off just as quickly as it would without the spray. However, It did help improve the staying power of everything else. When I use the spray in the morning, I don't feel the need to reapply my makeup for several hours. The 4 oz. bottle is also compact enough to toss in your purse and freshen up throughout the day.
I was having a rough day today. My mother and brother came to visit me and to I was a big sobbing mess when they left. So I set out for some shopping therapy, because I remembered that today was the day Anna Sui's Gossip Girl inspired line hit Target.
I was all pumped to try on some Blaire Waldorf-y outfits--but to my dismay, the collection was far below my expectations. For the most part, everything looked kind of cheaply made and over-priced (for the GO International line). The Target I went to had an un-advertised TWO racks of Anna Sui stuff. That was it. :( Did anyone else go check out this line yet??

I've always been a big fan of Tarte's line of cheek stains. They come in some great shades, are light, blendable and slightly shimmery. Best of all, it gives you that sexy "what have you been up to" flushed look. :)
Now Tarte has hopped on the green bandwagon with Green Siren ($30)--a golden apricot shade. It contains the tarte t5 super fruit complex, which is a proprietary blend of the five most active superfruits: goji, acai, maracuja, acerola and pomegranate. The first blend of its kind, t5 is loaded with naturally occurring, antioxidant rich nutrients and vitamins that have been known to deliver refining, anti-aging and skin-restorative benefits with each application.
Also, with each purchase, you're supporting Sambazon's Sustainable Acai Project, which helps to preserve the Amazon Rainforest through conservation, improved living conditions and educational opportunities for communities in Brazil.
I made it here in one piece. Barely. The house is nice, albeit some issues with a scatterbrained landlord who doesn't like to return phone calls or emails. The city is adorable and has so much going on. The weather has been great. Even Toby seemed to immediately love it here.
So why oh why have I been in such an awful funk since arriving? I keep telling myself it's normal until I'm feeling settled in. Hopefully the reassurance is true and the funk/reoccuring bad dreams will end once I've thoroughly "nested" and this new place starts to feel like home.
In the meantime, I officially have an internet connection again. :)
Alright. So you might think it's too early to start thinking about stocking up on your makeup for fall. (At least that's how I feel in this 90 degree South Carolina weather!) But let's face it--summer is winding down and fall (my favorite season!) is right around the corner.
When I'm trying out new trends for a new season, I don't want to spend a fortune when I'm not sure if the "must have" nail polish color or lipstick shade is going to work for me. That's why I love hitting up Walmart. I get the lowest price on my favorite drugstore brands--like L'Oreal, Revlon and Maybelline. And what's reassuring about Walmart, especially in my case with moving to a new city? There's always one nearby.
